Glam Polish: 2017 Valentine's Day Duo

Tuesday, January 31, 2017 Unknown 0 Comments

Hey guys! Today I've got the Glam Polish 2017 Valentine's Day Duo to show you! So I'm a bit late showing you these since they've sold out already, but this is a gorgeous duo none the less. I really like that while these two colors definitely fit in with the Valentine's Day theme they aren't the typical reds you see released. Let's jump right into the swatches, shall we?

Le Grand Amour (which translates to "The Great Love") is a delicate lavender crelly with iridescent flakies, shimmering glass flecks, and holo flakes. I know I say this all the time, but I'm such a sucker for purples. This is such a gorgeous, soft, feminine color. I had no issues with application and this polish is opaque in two thicker coats. I tend to work in thin coats so shown below is three coats with a glossy top coat.

These flakies produce some serious glow in low lighting. You can even see them in the bright lights of my light box, but definitely not to the extent that you can in low light.

Mon Chéri (which translates to "My Darling") is an intense baby pink holo with shimmering glass flecks and a variety of candy colored glitters. Application and opacity are good on this one too with it being opaque in two coats. Shown below is two coats with a glossy top coat. This polish will take a bit of scrubbing (not much!) to get off because of the glitters in it, but it's not full on glitter removal hell at all.

Lovely polishes, right? So anyway, like I said earlier, I was behind with getting these posted and they've sold out already. These went on sale January 20th as a set only and in very limited quantities. Did you manage to snag these when they went on sale? What do you think about them? Let me know in the comments!

Baroness X: Oracle III

Tuesday, January 24, 2017 Unknown 0 Comments

Hey guys! Today I have Oracle III from Baroness X to show you! This is a prototype that was included in the December Monthly Mythical Mystery box. There are three different versions, Oracle I, II, and III respectively and anyone who ordered the box received one of them randomly. There are minute differences between the glitter ratios in each one. Obviously, I received III since that's what I'm showing you today.

I love cabochon shots, they always look like mini galaxies on top of the bottle. Below is I think the first ever brush shot I've ever take and really shows off the bright green shimmer that was hard to capture on my nails in the artificial lighting I use.

Okay, now that we've got gratuitous bottle/cabochon/brush shots done, let's move onto the actual swatches. Oracle III is a microglitter topper in a clear base that shifts between green, teal, blue, and fuchsia. This could probably be built to full coverage on it's own eventually but you're much better off layering this over a base color. It's not really intended as a stand alone polish. I personally think it looks best over dark colors so I chose to layer it over black. Shown below is two coats over black with two coats of glossy top coat for smoothness.

I honestly can't wait for the polish this is eventually going to be to come out because I need a full size bottle of this pronto. No details on when exactly that will be just yet, but keep your eyes peeled! Did you receive one of the other Oracles? How does it compare? Let me know what you think of this one in the comments!

Different Dimension: I Wish I Was A Little Bit Taller

Thursday, January 19, 2017 Unknown 0 Comments

Hey y'all! Today I've got Different Dimension I Wish I Was A Little Bit Taller to show you! Okay, so this is actually an older polish than I thought (man, time flies), it's from the November 2015 Holo Hookup box. For those of you not familiar with the box it's a monthly box that contains four holographic polishes for $40. Different Dimension is one of the permanent contributors.

I Wish I Was A Little Bit Taller is a deep, red toned, plummy purple linear holographic polish. This polish is so gorgeous and is actually one of my favorite polishes in my collection. Fun fact: Both of my two favorite purples are from Different Dimension. This is one of them, the other is Lacerta. Of course both of them are limited editions, because life. lol Anyway! The formula is stellar on this and it could definitely be a one coater for those of you who work in thicker coats. I tend to favor thinner coats. Shown below is two coats with a glossy top coat.

Different Dimension absolutely makes some of the best holos in my humble opinion. Her polishes consistently have an excellent formula, are incredibly opaque, and the linear holos are strong. Do you have this polish? What do you think of it? Let me know in the comments!

Glam Polish: January Heroes vs. Villains GPF Exclusives

Tuesday, January 17, 2017 Unknown 0 Comments

Hey guys! Today I've got some exclusives from Glam Polish for you! This is the January Heroes vs. Villains Glam Polish Fans exclusive duo! These are Whozits and Whatzits Galore and Life's Full of Tough Choices, Innit?, which if you can't tell is based off of Ariel and Ursula from The Little Mermaid (one of my favorite Disney movies!).

Whozits and Whatzits Galore is a seafoam green crelly with shifting iridescent glitter and fine holo microglitter. I found this applied better in thinner coats, but if you do thicker coats this should be opaque in two. Shown below is three thin coats with two coats of a glossy top coat. This is a bit of a top coat eater so you'll need two coats to get a smooth finish.

Life's Full of Tough Choices, Innit? is a dark ink purple jelly with shifting iridescent glitter and fine holo microglitter. I also found that this one applied better in thinner coats, but like the other this should be opaque in two coats if you do thicker ones. Shown below is three thin coats with two coats of a glossy top coat. This one is a bit of a top coat eater too and you'll need two coats for a smooth finish.

These are both currently available on the Glam Polish website but you'll need to join Glam Polish Fans to get the code to buy them! What do you think of these? Let me know in the comments!

Tonic Polish: Enchanted Elixir

Sunday, January 15, 2017 Unknown 0 Comments

Hey guys! So, I'm already not doing so great with keeping on schedule, but the truth is I have honestly just not really had time to sit down, swatch, edit, and then write up posts on a super consistent basis. It's a long story, but the short of it is that my boyfriend and I are buying his godmother's house from her sister (she passed back in September). So we've been doing a lot of work to that and I've been spending a lot of time going through stuff and packing. It's been incredibly time consuming.

Anyway! Today I've got Enchanted Elixir from Tonic Polish! This is an oldie from Tonic, but she's a beaut! I did have some problems trying to catch the shift in photos, so I did include one macro that I normally wouldn't because it's the only picture I got that really captured that shift well. It's a navy based jelly with a strong fuchsia/gold/green multichrome shimmer and gold holographic microglitter. Formula is nice and easy with this one and it's opaque in two coats. It will need a top coat for smoothness and that glossy finish. Shown below is two coats topped with a glossy top coat.

Andddddd, my "artsy" macro that shows that shift...

So I also want to throw out there as of when these photos we're taken I've had this on for a couple of days already and as you can see, zero tip wear. These wear like iron on me. So fantastic. This isn't currently available, but there is going to be a restock of older colors near the end of the month, so keep your eye out for it!

Glam Polish: Rydell Forever Collection

Tuesday, January 03, 2017 Unknown 0 Comments

Happy New Year y'all! I have honestly never been more excited to say that phrase in my entire life. I am sooooooo ready to leave that bad juju of 2016 behind and start fresh in 2017! That being said, last year I was aiming to post M/W/F and that really just did not end up working out. This year I'm going to switch to Tuesdays and Thursdays with some extra posts thrown in on the weekends when I have time. To kick this year off we've got swatches for the gorgeous Glam Polish Rydell Forever Collection that is releasing this Friday! If you haven't already guessed, this collection is based on the movie Grease! Saddle up because this is a seriously image heavy post!

Go Grease Lightning is a bright red jelly with iridescent flakies and holo microglitter. This is a warm red and I feel like it definitely pulls more of a blood orange red in photos than it actually is because of my skin tone and how it has a tendency to pull warm colors. It applies nicely with no issues and I did three thinner coats to make sure my visible nail line wasn't visible, but if you're a bit more heavy handed you could achieve opacity in two coats. Shown below is three coats with two coats of glossy top coat (I like the extra shine).

It's Electrifying is a vivid green jelly with iridescent flakies and holo microglitter. So this is a bit brighter than your traditional Christmas green, but in my opinion this is the perfect green for Christmas. It's bright and reminds me of holly bushes even though it's definitely brighter than holly bush leaves. I keep imagining this and Go Grease Lightning making the cutest little holly nail art. Application on this one was nice and smooth too. I again did three coats to make sure my visible nail line was covered, but you could very likely achieve opacity in two coats. Shown below is three coats with two coats of glossy top coat.

Oh Sandy! is a bright lilac purple crelly with iridescent shifting flakies, glass flecks, and holo microglitter. This is one of my favorites from the collection. I love the combination of purple and the iridescent flakies. So gorgeous together! Just like the others application is smooth on this with no issues and opacity can be achieve in two coats. Shown below is three coats and two coats of a glossy top coat.

Peachy Keen, Jelly Bean is described as a bright magenta jelly with iridescent flakies and holo microglitter. I think I'd actually call this more of a watermelon pink though. Application was smooth and opaque on this one as well (are you sensing a trend yet?). Full opacity can be achieved in two coats, but shown below is three coats with two coats of a glossy top coat.

Rockin' an' Rollin' an' Whatnot is a space gray/gunmetal 12D holographic polish. Now, from what I understand the 12D part means it's a bunch of different holo finishes combined. Application is nice and smooth on this polish, but it is a microglitter so it dries with texture and is a pain in the butt to remove. So maybe wear a peel off base coat if microglitter removal is not for you. This is opaque in two coats, but as always I did three just to doubly make sure my visible nail line is not visible. Shown below is three coats with two thick coats of glossy top coat. You will need at least two layers of top coat for a smooth finish on this one.

Summer Lovin' Had Me a Blast is a cerulean blue crelly with iridescent shifting flakies, glass flecks, and holo microglitter. This blue absolutely reminds me of the gorgeous blue water down in the Caribbean. LOVE. SO MUCH LOVE. Application is nice and smooth and like the others this can be opaque in two coats, but I used three. Shown below is three coats with two coats of glossy top coat.

Tell Me About It, Stud is a boysenberry/wine 12D holographic polish. Application is easy with this one too and the opacity is excellent on it. Two coats and you're good to go. This is a microglitter polish so it will dry textured though and removal is a bit of work. Shown below is three coats with two thick coats of a glossy top coat. You will need at least two layers of top coat for a glassy finish.

Too Pure To Be Pink is a delicate baby pink crelly with iridescent shifting flakies, glass flecks, and holo microglitter. Application was easy on this one too, but I do recommend three coats for full opacity for this one. Shown below is three coats with two coats of a glossy top coat.

You're Cruisin' for a Bruisin' is a navy blue 12D holographic polish. Application is nice and easy with this one and opacity is not a problem either. Easily full coverage in two coats, but keep in mind this is another microglitter and so it will dry textured and be slightly harder to remove. Shown below is three coats with two thick coats of a glossy top coat. You will need at least two layers of top coat to achieve a smooth finish.
