Color Club: 2015 Halo Hues

Tuesday, January 26, 2016 Unknown 2 Comments

Today I have the Color Club 2015 Halo Hues to show you guys! This is an older collection, obviously, but it's still readily available and it's gorgeous. There are seven polishes in this collection, which is more than the previous two Halo Hues releases. I also want to apologize in advance for the state of my cuticles. It's winter and I'm trying, but they are stubborn beasts and I neglected them a bit. Mea culpa.

First up is Star Light, Star Bright. This is a gold holographic polish with a gold flash. The formula and opacity on this is wonderful. I used two coats for this photo with a top coat of Seche Vite, but I definitely believe this could be a one coater.

Next up we have Sidewalk Psychic. This is a copper holographic polish with a copper flash. The formula and opacity on this one is again, wonderful. I used two coats for this photo with a top coat of Seche Vite. This could most definitely be a one coater though.

Next up is Date with Destiny. This is a lavender holographic polish with a lilac flash. Another one with an excellent formula and opacity. I again used two coats for this photo with a top coat of Seche Vite. Again, this could be a one coater.

Next up we have Crystal Baller. This is a blue holographic with a purple flash that's rather hard to see with how holo this polish is. Again, formula and opacity are both excellent. This is two coats with a top coat of Seche Vite. This could also be a one coater.

Next up we have Just My Luck. This is like a metallic minty spring green holographic polish with a matching flash. Just like all the others the formula and opacity was excellent on this. This is two coats with a top coat of Seche Vite. This could be a one coater.

Almost done! Next up is What's Your Sign?. This is a very light lilac holographic polish with a fuchsia flash. The formula and opacity are again both excellent with this polish. I used two coats with a top coat of Seche Vite for these photos. This one is too light to be a one coater IMO.

Last, but not least, we have Fingers Crossed. This is a silver holographic polish with a gold flash. Just like all the others the formula and opacity are both excellent on this one as well. I used two coats and a top coat of Seche Vite for these photos. This could be a one coater.

So that's all of them! They're all lovely but my favorites are What's Your Sign? and Date with Destiny. Which is your favorite? Let us know in the comments!
These are available in a number of places and retail anywhere from $8 - $10. I bought the entire set from EnoSpring for $40. They have some seriously awesome deals on Color Club sets.

Sunday Spam: Silver Holo Comparisons

Sunday, January 24, 2016 Unknown 2 Comments

There are a lot of silver holos out there but not all are created equally, so today I have a comparison post for you! I chose four silver linear holos from my collection to compare. I have other silver holos, but these are the only real linear ones I have. From left to right we have: Octopus Party Nail Lacquer, Crown of Queen Elizabeth; Vapid Lacquer, Cryogenic Refrigerant; Fair Maiden Polish, The Final Countdown; and ILNP, Mega (L).

As you can see there are a lot of similarities between all four but there are definitely differences too. The only ones I'd call "dupe" on are Crown of Queen Elizabeth and Cryogenic Refrigerant but I will say the formulas are different and thus so are the applications. Crown of Queen Elizabeth is more sheer and absolutely requires three coats for what I would say is optimum coverage. Cryogenic Refrigerant can be a one coater if you do a thick enough coat. The opacity on it is insane. As for the others you can see that The Final Countdown also has flakies in it and Mega (L) is much more delicate with a more subtle flare than the others.

One last photo, showing the flare as best I can without sunlight. There has been no sunlight for two days now. Nothing but snow. All the snow. There is literally (and I do mean literally in the literal sense of the word) three feet of snow here right now. We've lost the patio furniture. Anyway, HOLO GOODNESS (please forgive my jacked looking cuticles).

So there you have it! My comparable silver linear holos. Which one do you prefer? Do you have any that could be dupes for these? Let us know in the comments!

Mani Monday

Monday, January 18, 2016 Unknown 2 Comments

So not sticking to updating this quite as much as I had hoped, but I'm still making a strong effort over here. I've been doing stuff and taking photos, but I haven't edited or watermarked them yet or written posts. So I'm like halfway there? I've got some stuff for you today obviously. I've really been into stamping lately so today I have a mani I did using Different Dimension Mystery Villain #3, Drizella Tremaine, stamped with Vapid Lacquer Pessimist and MoYou Illusion No. 5 plate.

Because I've been slacking I also have a bonus mani for you today! I did this one last weekend and didn't get enough decent pictures to make an entire post for it. The base for this one is Enchanted Polish Magical Mystery Tour over black and was also stamped with Vapid Lacquer Pessimist and MoYou Illusion No. 5 plate. It's a cool plate. I dig it.

Well, that's it. That's all I've got for you today. Let us know what you think of these in the comments! (Also any helpful stamping advice welcome, I am still a noob.)

Kaleidoscope Nails

Sunday, January 03, 2016 Unknown 0 Comments

So my resolution to myself this year is to be more active with this blog. Yeah, I know, I said that same shit like six months ago and failed miserably. If you could only see the face I'm making at myself and my chuckle of knowing my habits. Life is busy though and it makes devoting time to this blog difficult. But I'm gonna try, I swear!

So for my first post of the new year I bring something else fresh and new to me, stamping! I tried this like a year or so ago and failed so terribly at it that I sat my supplies aside and didn't try it again until my buddy Anna sent me a MoYou plate for Christmas. I learned at this point that my issues clearly had been in that the plates I was trying to use sucked balls and aren't etched deep enough.

I actually think this turned out pretty swell for my first go at stamping. I absolutely love the way it shimmers underneath and really gives it a kaleidoscope type look. Also, dat shimmer is just out of this world. Love it!

Base: Femme Fatale - Poisoned Apple
Stamp: Vapid Lacquer - Pessimist
Plate: MoYou London - Kaleidoscopic No. 4
