Sunday Spam: Silver Holo Comparisons

Sunday, January 24, 2016 Unknown 2 Comments

There are a lot of silver holos out there but not all are created equally, so today I have a comparison post for you! I chose four silver linear holos from my collection to compare. I have other silver holos, but these are the only real linear ones I have. From left to right we have: Octopus Party Nail Lacquer, Crown of Queen Elizabeth; Vapid Lacquer, Cryogenic Refrigerant; Fair Maiden Polish, The Final Countdown; and ILNP, Mega (L).

As you can see there are a lot of similarities between all four but there are definitely differences too. The only ones I'd call "dupe" on are Crown of Queen Elizabeth and Cryogenic Refrigerant but I will say the formulas are different and thus so are the applications. Crown of Queen Elizabeth is more sheer and absolutely requires three coats for what I would say is optimum coverage. Cryogenic Refrigerant can be a one coater if you do a thick enough coat. The opacity on it is insane. As for the others you can see that The Final Countdown also has flakies in it and Mega (L) is much more delicate with a more subtle flare than the others.

One last photo, showing the flare as best I can without sunlight. There has been no sunlight for two days now. Nothing but snow. All the snow. There is literally (and I do mean literally in the literal sense of the word) three feet of snow here right now. We've lost the patio furniture. Anyway, HOLO GOODNESS (please forgive my jacked looking cuticles).

So there you have it! My comparable silver linear holos. Which one do you prefer? Do you have any that could be dupes for these? Let us know in the comments!

  1. Nice comparison! Pahlish has one called White Moon and it's extremely similar to Cryo in my opinion. Cryo is my fave though!

    1. Thank you! Cryo is seriously something special. I'll have to check out the Pahlish though. I've been meaning to try them again anyway. This is as good excuse as any. lol
