Vapid Lacquer: Restock Roundup

Friday, October 28, 2016 Unknown 3 Comments

Hey guys! As you might already know... Vapid Lacquer has a restock coming up! This is a smaller restock (as in, just polish is being restocked) and is the second to last restock of the year! There's some cores, oldies, dirty holos, and a limited edition making an appearance this restock and today I've got a few of those shades to show you!

Blackened Amethyst is making it's return this restock! It's a dark, deep, rich plum  linear holographic polish. I love this color. It's such a great vampy fall purple. Formula is silky smooth and opaque in one coat. Shown below is two coats with a glossy top coat.

I Spike My Coffee hasn't been restocked in two years! This is what I would call a taupe nude with dark brown flakies and a subtle pink shimmer. I wasn't sure this was going to play nice with my skin tone when I was putting it on, but I actually really love this! Very work appropriate if you have a job that doesn't let you have crazy nails. This one did take some building to cover my visible nail line. Shown below is three coats and a glossy top coat.

Smoke Screen is a quasi-limited edition polish. This may or may not make a reappearance at a later date. It depends on if the pigments are able to be found. So that being said, snatch this one up if you're interested in it. It might not be back. This is a smokey gray with a shifting shimmer that shifts between red to a warm orange to a yellow-olive gold. The formula was silky smooth and this was opaque in two coats. Shown below is two coats with a glossy top coat. I highly recommend using a glossy top coat since it really makes this shimmery polish come alive.

Catch Me If You Can Dirty Holo XXX is making it's debut this restock! This is the same rich teal linear holo polish as the original Catch Me If You Can with the addition of a holographic micro flake. Giving it a little extra bling. The formula on this one is impeccable. Silky smooth and a one coater. Shown below is two coats with a glossy top coat.

Sweaters n' Denim was the thermal to have last fall and it's back! It's a nude when warm and blue when cold. It also has this crazy amount of copper shimmer in it which makes the nude actually look a little more like rosy-copper nude. Formula is good on this and it's mostly opaque in two coats. I have just the tiniest bit of visible nail line with two coats in the warm state. Shown below is two coats with a glossy top coat.

Last, but not least, Chick Fight Dirty Holo XXX. This is the same jet black linear holo as the original chick fight, but with the addition of holographic micro flakies. Formula was silky smooth and opaque in one coat. Shown below is two coats with a glossy top coat.

So that's it. That's all I've got for you today. Six gorgeous shades that you totally need. I'm really loving the dirty holos and Smoke Screen! Which ones are you looking forward to grabbing the most? Let me know in the comments!

Tonic Polish: Angelfish

Wednesday, October 26, 2016 Unknown 0 Comments

Hey y'all! I've got a new to me brand today! I've been eyeballing Tonic Polish for a while now and I finally got around to ordering some a few weeks ago. Today I've got one of those to show you, so without further ado I present Angelfish.

Angelfish is the periwinkle sister to Rainbowfish (which I'll be featuring sometime soon). It also has pink shimmer, green-gold multichrome flakies, silver holo microglitter, and is a linear holographic polish to boot. It. is. stunning. Seriously, this polish blew me away with how gorgeous it is. It has a silky smooth formula and was opaque in two coats. It did dry sort of satin, so if you want that shine make sure you slap a top coat on there. Shown below is two coats with a glossy top coat.

I think it's safe to say I'm hooked on Tonic. Every polish I ordered was stunning and if all their formulas are like this one then I can easily see Tonic becoming a favorite brand of mine. This is currently available in the Tonic shop and retails for $12. Do you have any Tonics? What do you think of this one? Let me know in the comments!

Glam Polish: Halloween Edition

Tuesday, October 25, 2016 Unknown 0 Comments

Hey guys! Today I have a few Halloween polishes from Glam Polish to show you: Magica de Spell, Ms. Eva Ernst, Revenge of the Lawn Gnomes, and Say Cheese and Die! So these are actually my first Glams and I gotta say they definitely left me wanting to go buy more. They all were excellent formulas and incredibly opaque. So let's get onto the swatches!

First up is Ms. Eva Ernst! This is a rich burgundy jelly packed with scattered holographic flakies. Formula was silky smooth and very opaque. This could be a one coater. Shown below is two coats with a glossy top coat.

Next up is Revenge of the Lawn Gnomes! It's a grassy green packed with iridescent flakies and holo microglitter. Formula on this was excellent as well as opaque in one coat. Shown below is two coats with a glossy top coat.

Last, but not least, is Say Cheese and Die! This is a bright red-orange jelly filled with iridescent flakies and holo microglitter. The formula on this one was excellent, but this one wasn't as opaque as the others. It took three coats to cover my visible nail line. Shown below is three coats with a glossy top coat.

I was really impressed with all of these. even the orange which isn't a color I typically reach for or buy for myself. These definitely won't be my last Glams! These are all currently available on the Glam website and range between $11.50 and $12.00. Grab them while you can since they are limited edition! Are you a fan of Glam? What did you think of these polishes? Let me know in the comments!

Edit: Okay, so I'm just now posting these on IG and looking at Revenge of the Lawn Gnomes directly above Magica de Spell on there I'm realizing that you can totally tell the difference in my skin tone and I feel the need to explain. I swatched these a week apart from each other and spent the week in between in Miami. I got a tan... and yes, I am so pasty that a little bit of color like that makes a big difference. lol

Baroness X: Obsidian & Vox Populi

Sunday, October 23, 2016 Unknown 0 Comments

Hey guys! So I know there's been a bit of an absence lately. It's been a busy month for me. I turned 30 a few weeks ago, that same day two of my best friends got married, last week I was in Miami, and later today I have another friend's wedding to attend. So like I've said, I've been busy. Which also means I'm behind on blogging stuff. I'm trying to catch up though. lol

Anyhow! Today I've got some new Baroness X polishes to show you, Obsidian and Vox Populi! These are both gorgeous polishes and exactly what I've come to expect from Demi. Let's get onto the swatches then...

Obsidian is the new group custom for the Baroness X facebook group, The X Army. It's a black jelly base packed with that magical unicorn pigment that was found in Clarins 230 and the original Max Factor Fantasy Fire. I found it best to build this with medium coats and waiting for each layer to dry completely before doing the next. Shown below is three coats with a glossy top coat. I know in the one picture it shows VNL, but you can't see that in person. I also had a really hard time getting that bright green shift. It was at such an awkward angle and every photo I took had massive glare on the nails.

Next up is Vox Populi! This is a blackened jelly base with an indigo blue shimmer, clear holo glitter, and multicolored iridescent flakies. The formula on this is a bit on the thicker side and it's best to work with medium thick layers and waiting for each layer to dry in between. Shown below is three coats with a glossy top coat.

Ughhhh, they're both so shimmery and beautiful it hurts! So, good news! You can totally buy both of these right now! Vox Populi is easily available on the Baroness X website and costs $13 (it's on sale right now for $12!), but to get the link to Obsidian you'll have to come join us over in The X Army since it's a group exclusive. We're fun. I promise. Plus there's all sorts of sneak peeks and sometimes there are giveaways. You want to be there.

Oh! Hey! I figured I'd share a little something personal today simply because the whole experience tickled me to death and I'm still super stoked about it. I also thought you might want to see a little something more than just my nails. So here's a picture of me holding a baby alligator from my vacation last week. IT WAS AMAZING. Seriously, he was so adorable and soft and it was just such an awesome experience. Totally do it if you ever get a chance. Also, please ignore my double chin. My boyfriend sucks at taking photos (I'm sorry, Mike. I love you, but it's true. You need angle supervision.)

PICTURED ABOVE: ONE OF THE GREATEST MOMENTS OF MY LIFE.
Alright. So that's it for today. Pretty polishes and adorable alligators. No promises on when the next picture I show of me will be, but that's okay cuz y'all are here for the nails anyway. We all know it. Drop me a comment on what you think of these and come join us over in The X Army.
